It's time for Kindergarten

Early childhood developmental screening helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources. 

What does an early childhood screening include? 

• vision
• hearing 
• growth 
• immunization status
• thinking 
• communication and language 
• large and small muscle control 
• emotional development

Consider enrolling your child in a preschool program such as High Five, Head Start, an Early Childhood Family Education class, quality childcare programs or community education programs.

RPS Preschool

Registration for Kindergarten opens in January. You can register your incoming Kindergartener online or by visiting the Registration and Records office in person at the Edison Administration Building.

In order to complete registration online or in person,  you'll need:

1. Certified birth certificate
2. Immunization record

Submit these forms through the online registration process, fax them to (507) 281-6086, email, or bring the documents to the Registration and Records Office.

Note about Immunizations:

Make plans to have your child's immunizations up-to-date before beginning kindergarten. Although these are not required at time of registration, please bring a record if available; and keep in mind that an updated immunization record is required before your child/children begins school.

In November, RPS hosts a Kick off to Kindergarten event for all incoming Kindergarten families. If you missed it, no worries!
