exterior of the Franklin Building

Located in the heart of Southeast Rochester since 1969, Ben Franklin is a neighborhood cornerstone serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are unique because we offer two distinct, research-based pathways to success: our neighborhood Total School Cluster Grouping model and the Districtwide Montessori program at Franklin. Whether your child thrives in a traditional classroom or a Montessori environment, they will find a community ready to equip them with the knowledge, independence, and resilience to pursue a fulfilling path.

What makes Franklin special

  • Tailored for every student: Every learner is different. We use a classroom model that allows teachers to provide personalized instruction based on each student’s unique strengths, ensuring they are challenged at exactly the right level.

  • High-flying success:

We build resilience through high expectations and social-emotional support, partnering with families to help every "Flyer" reach their full potential.

What makes Montessori at Franklin special

  • Hands-on independence: In our "prepared environment," students use specialized materials to move from concrete exploration to abstract mastery, fostering deep independence.

  • Mixed-age mentorship: Multi-age classrooms foster long-term relationships and leadership, allowing older students to mentor their younger peers in a supportive community.
